The City of Daphne Alabama is rich with history and long ties to the community.  In 1577 Spanish explorers first discovered the city of Daphne. Once known as "The Village" back in 1763 and was previously occupied by the French troops and later British troops. Valuable relics dating as far back as 1557 have been discovered showing that the Tensaw, Alabama, Choctaw, Creeks, and Seminole Indians all lived in this area prior to 1557. Perhaps what Daphne is most known for is, being one of the world's only places to experience a "Jubilee". This incredible event brings about blue crabs, shrimp and fish to the shallow waters of the shoreline, where locals are waiting to fill their buckets full of goodies. Thus giving Daphne the title of "The Jubilee City".  Daphne takes pride in knowing that the city was voted in the "Top 100 Best Places to Live" by CNN/Money website.
